OSHA porta potty requirements for construction sites

OSHA 1926.51(c) requires one toilet for every 20 workers or fewer on a construction site, and one toilet plus one urinal per 40 workers when the crew exceeds 20.

Servicing frequency

OSHA requires toilet facilities to be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. It does not name a fixed interval, so the practical standard is weekly service for typical crews, and twice weekly once a single unit is carrying more than about 10 workers full time. Hand washing facilities

29 CFR 1926.51(f) requires adequate washing facilities where employees are exposed to substances that may be harmful, and 1910.141(d)(2) sets the general-industry standard for lavatories. For most general construction work, a hand sanitizer dispenser inside the unit satisfies the day-to-day need; dedicated wash stations are required where paints, solvents, or other harmful substances are in use.
